Bernadette Joan Kelly, loving wife, mother, “nana”, aunt, sister, and resident of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at the age of 78.
Bernadette was born on March 20, 1944, to Joan and Al Berry in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School located in Downtown Brooklyn. She worked as a legal secretary in both Manhattan and Staten Island. Bernadette moved to Staten Island after she married Leonard Kelly. Bernadette was an exceptional wife, mother, and “nana” ensuring that everyone was always safe, happy, and healthy. She was a spiritual woman and was a member of a church prayer group. She was an avid reader, loved traveling with her husband Leonard, and enjoyed finding bargains while shopping and taking care of her grandchildren _ Friends and family describe Bernadette as loving, compassionate, and devout to her faith.
Bernadette is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leonard Kelly; her children Jennifer Lioce and Erin Carollo; son-in-law Christopher Lioce, grandsons Christopher Lioce and Giovanni Carollo, granddaughters Sophia Carollo and Jessica Lioce; sister Jane Hayes; nephew Timothy Gallager, Michael Hayes, Matthew Hayes and John Kelly; nieces Kelly Bange, Mary Gardner and Therese Kelly; great-nephews Michael Angelo LaRosa, Tristan Gallager, Dylan Gallager, Tyler Gallager, Drew Gallager, Boden Hayes, and Patrick Hayes; grand-nieces Madelyn Hayes and Bridget Hayes. She is predeceased by her sisters Ann Gallager and Maureen Berry and her son-in-law Phillip Carollo.
Services will be handled by Bedell Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Road, New York 10307 (718)984-0913. Visitation is Sunday, July 31, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral is Monday, August 1, 2022, at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery
