Obituary

Singler, Ellen, M. (77), passed away on January 31, 2021 at Bayshore Medical Center.

 

Ellen graduated from St. Peter's High School, Staten Island, and went on to Notre Dame College of Staten Island, where she earned her BA in1964. In 1982, she earned her Masters at Kean University.  She was a NYC School Teacher for over 30 years, teaching Language Arts at Egbert Intermediate School, New Dorp. Stained glass creations, trips to Atlantic City and spoiling multiple generations of nephews & nieces were her favorite past times.

 

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, John and Genevieve. She is survived by her brother John (Judy), sister Joan Chilvers, and sister Mary Jane Bastiaans (Glenn).  She was the proud Aunt to 7 nephews and nieces;  9 great nephews and nieces; and 2 great-great nephews. Ellen was a devoted sister, aunt, friend and teacher. All who were blessed to know and be loved by her will cherish her memory and be forever thankful for the gift of her love and her life.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 4th at 10am, Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 7396 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, followed by burial at St. Peter's Cemetery.  Those wishing to extend their sympathy to the family can do so Wednesday, February 3rd, 7-9pm, 7447 Amboy Rd, Staten Island.  Covid precautions and limitations will be followed, masks will be required.
