Frances “Clare” Moog

Frances Clare Moog (nee McCormack) 84, longtime Tottenville resident, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 9, 2020 at Sunnyside Manor Assisted Living in Wall Township, New Jersey, where she had been a resident for the past three years.

Born Frances Clare McCormack on November 21, 1935 in Flatbush, Brooklyn, as a child, she moved with her family to the Charleston section of Staten Island. Known to her family and friends as Clare, she attended Our Lady Help of Christians elementary school.  She graduated from St. Peter’s High School for Girls. She later met and married Jude Moog in November 1959 and settled in Tottenville.   She worked as a secretary at various companies ranging from banking to construction until her retirement.  Clare was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and member of the South Shore Swim Club. She enjoyed traveling and vacations at the Jersey Shore, baking, and shopping.

She is survived by her sons Peter and Michael; daughters-in-law, Nan and Karen; her grandchildren Meghan, Martin, Jennifer and Christine and her sister Patricia King.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jude; her sisters Kathleen Miller, Margaret Wright and Maryann Herblin and her brother James McCormack.

A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
