Lawrence Bernhardt, 79, passed away on Aug. 3, 2019, at home.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Huguenot 35 years ago.
He earned three degrees in economics, business and community college education from Murray State University in Kentucky.
Lawrence taught at Western Piedmont Community College. He spent 20 years in retail in the food industry, retiring from the A&P in 2006. He authored a book recounting his childhood spent on Raritan Bay, called "Tale of the Beach." He loved the South Shore, and was an avid gardener using his produce for family gatherings. He also served in the Air Force.
Surviving are his sister, Arlene Bernhardt Currie (Mike), and many loving nieces and nephews.
