Vernon Ralph “Butch” Storer

Beloved husband, father and grandfather

Butch Storer of Prince’s Bay, Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2020, surrounded by family, of 9/11 related lung disease.Butch was born on Staten Island on September 20, 1942 in Richmond Memorial Hospital on Seguine Avenue, and raised in Prince’s Bay. He attended P.S. 3 in Pleasant Plains, and Tottenville High School.

He worked for Eklof Marine Corp. in Mariner’s Harbor as an oiler and engineer for twenty years. He then worked for the Staten Island Ferry for 25 years, also as a marine oiler and engineer.

Butch loved hunting, fishing and going up to his country home in the Adirondacks, in Northville, on Lake Sacandaga. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association, and a lifelong member of the Zimmer Club Fish and Game Conservation. He was also a member of the Masonic Temple, Tompkins Maritime Lodge No. 471, Free & Accepted Masons, on Bay Street in Stapleton. Butch served as Chairman of the Pastor Parish Committee as a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains.

Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (nee Horvath), his daughters, Donna Tagliaferro and Denise Storer, son-in-law Steve Rispoli, and grandchildren, Stephen, Carolyn and Lauren Rispoli, James Tagliaferro, and Christopher and Lisa DeSane. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Rispoli.

Arrangements have been made for a private family funeral at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, followed by internment at Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
