Albert J. Esposito or “Big Al” to most, was a force—larger than life, deeply committed and unforgettable to those who knew him. He passed away surrounded by love leaving an immeasurable void in the lives of his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched through his work and friendship.
Born and raised in Brooklyn and later a proud Staten Islander, Albert was known for his big personality, his endless stories and his ability to connect with everyone and anyone who met him. He was as outspoken and passionate as he was deeply loyal to the people he loved. He found real joy in making people laugh and in helping others, often doing both at the same time.
Albert dedicated more than three decades of his life to healthcare administration, where his leadership, vision and tireless advocacy helped shape and strengthen care for entire communities. As a respected executive, he managed complex healthcare organizations with precision and heart, and rooted his career in an unwavering belief in giving back.
Above all else, Albert was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his two children, Christopher and his spouse Karishma, and Melissa and her spouse Bryan, who were the pride and joy of his life; as well as his brothers and sisters, John, Donna and Michael, and brothers-in-law Steve and Steve and sisters-in-law Francine and Diane, and his many nieces and nephews. Albert was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild in March, a milestone that he spoke of with immense pride and excitement.
Albert was loved by his family, friends and neighbors alike. His legacy lives on in the institutions he strengthened, the people whose lives he touched and the family he loved fiercely.
