Anthony Palazzo, 90, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026. Jesus honored his prayers to live to 90, and he is now joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Anne Marie, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Yonkers to the late Lucia and Antonio Palazzo, Anthony was the youngest of three brothers.
Anthony was a devoted and loving father to Donna Palazzo (John Benedetto) and Lori Palazzo (Earl Eikeseth).
He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Jaclyn Benedetto (Joseph Felice), John Anthony Benedetto, Nicholas Benedetto (Nicole Barry), Christopher Eikeseth, and Danielle Eikeseth (James McDonald). He was also lovingly known as “Poppy” to his six great-grandchildren: Gianna-Marie, Matthew, Scarlett, Joseph, Nicholas, and Makenzie.
Anthony was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served for six years in the National Guard as a Pole Lineman Chief. He worked as a letter carrier for 36 years and retired at the young age of 55.
An avid hunter since the age of 15, Anthony also loved fishing with his friend Bobby and his grandchildren. One of his proudest accomplishments was winning the Staten Island Tuna Contest at age 40, catching a 150-pound tuna with his relatives and catching a six-pointer with his crossbow at age 87.
Anthony will be remembered and deeply missed for his strong faith, adventurous spirit, determination, love of food, appreciation for music and reading, and enjoyment of golf, hunting, fishing, following sports teams, and trips to the casino.
