Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother
Barbara LaMendola, 81, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Staten Island University Hospital South.
Born in the Bronx and raised on Staten Island from an early age, Barbara built her life around faith, family, and love. She worked as a cook for the New York City Board of Education, where she was admired for her reliability and caring nature. A devoted parishioner of Holy Child Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for the School of Religion, sharing her faith with humility and compassion.
Barbara was known for her quick wit and subtle sarcasm, a gift that could unexpectedly lighten a room and bring smiles to those around her. She lived a simple and genuine life, devoted entirely to her family. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children and especially her grandchildren, who filled her days with joy and purpose.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore LaMendola, and her parents, John Palazzo and his wife Angela. She is survived by her loving children, Salvatore LaMendola and his wife Kristin, Vincent LaMendola and his wife Theresa, and Jason LaMendola; her sister, Camille Palazzo; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Michael, Adriana, Riley, Hannah, Victoria, Ella, Lauren, and Nathan LaMendola and her precious great-grandchild Scarlet LaMendola
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, November 11, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10307. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 4747 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10312. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 52 Tyler Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10310.
Barbara will be remembered for her faith, her humor, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her steadfastness, spirit, and love will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
