Barbara Turano passed away on April 4th at the age of 79, surrounded by her family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Barbara was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Taranto. She graduated from New Utrecht High School and later began her career with the New York Telephone Company, where she worked for more than 25 years. It was there that she met Frank, the love of her life and husband of 30 years, who predeceased her in 2022.
Barbara is survived by her brothers, Patrick and Danny; her sisters‑in‑law Carla, Joanne, Carol, and Denise; and her brothers‑in‑law Louis, Bob, and Michael. She was a devoted stepmother to Frank, Maryanne, and Marguerite, and a loving grandmother to Frankie, Alessandra, Anthony, Jordan, and Taylor. She was also a cherished aunt to Patrick, Anna, Rhea, Anthony, Anthony, Tat, Danielle, Jerry, Melissa and Simon and great aunt to Christopher, Tyler, Thomas, Alexandra, Isabella, Christopher, Matthew, Liam, Charlie, and Maximillian.
Barbara lived life with joy, generosity, and an open heart. She enjoyed painting and loved to dance. She had a true passion for cooking and was happiest when her home was filled with family, friends, and neighbors - whether in New York, Cape Cod, or Florida. Her warmth, humor, and hospitality made everyone feel welcome.
Though she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, Barbara’s memory will live on in the stories, meals, and love she shared throughout her life.
