Betty Vaccaro, Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on December 6, 2021,
Born August 3, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY as Betty Jane Della Peruto, she met the love of her life, her soulmate Anthony Vaccaro and married him on April 28, 1962. When he passed in August, 2020 it broke her heart. Together they were invincible.
Content in her role as a home maker, stay at home mom , she was active in school fundraising and the PTA at St. Mary Mother of Jesus Parish, Brooklyn where her children attended school and Mass, life changed in the 1980’s she then took on a different role.
When hard times fell on Anthony’s small beverage company, together they went on to reshape a future for their family. Co-Founding Bettaway Beverage Distributors, Betty was instrumental in transitioning from what was a small beverage manufacturer to a trucking company, having a unique niche in the beverage industry. Betty & her beloved Anthony later went on to expand services to become one of the first national Third Party Logistics (3PL) and Pallet Management companies. Betty’s vision and determination made Bettaway what they are today – a premiere, national Supply Chain Services Company.
Betty took her founding role very seriously, determined to build a company that would move beyond just a single truck operation into something larger. Over the years, she was the recipient of many awards and praises, most notably the Harvey C. Russell PepsiCo Chairman’s Award. She became a member of the Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). All done with an eye on building a lasting company with a rock-solid foundation, a moral compass and sound business practices; a legacy for her family.
Betty, ever shy of the spotlight, preferred to be behind the scenes, ensuring all was operating as it should be. She happily transitioned her active role to retire and spend more time at their beloved Pennsylvania home, handing off the reins to her successors, her children, Laura and John, knowing the company she nurtured was in capable hands.
Betty was an avid nature lover, an amateur photographer, talented artist, crafter, mother, grandmother, wife. Keen eye, sharp wit, beautiful and elegant, admired for her caring and nurturing nature, lover of the environment and all creatures great and small, she was our Mom. She will be deeply and profoundly missed.
Her legacy will live on through her children, and her grandchildren, her love of nature and art her patronage, contributions, and generosity to all. She is survived by her 4 children, Laura Vaccaro, June (Delaney), John and Tracey (Ursini), their spouses David Delaney, Laura Coluccio Vaccaro and Nick Ursini, 9 grandchildren, Anthony and Frankie Vaccaro, Daniel and his wife Kelsey, Caitlin, Mary and David Delaney Jr., Nicholas, Victoria and Isabella Ursini.
Rest in Peace Kiki, we will forever miss you.
