STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Briana Kathryn DiMitri, 20, of Charleston, a bookkeeper, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.

Born in St. Croix, she moved to Tottenville in 1995 and to Charleston in 1997.

A graduate of Tottenville High School, she was an assistant bookkeeper for the Cafe Luna restaurants in Grasmere and Tottenville.

A member of the Church at the Gateway, Richmond Valley, she enjoyed spending time with her cousins and other family members. She liked cooking, baking and shopping, especially for sneakers. A favorite pastime was spending time in Manhattan visiting museums and Chinatown.

"She loved going to the beach and going back home where she was born," said her mother, Kathryn. "Briana had a lot of friends and everyone liked her and no one had a bad word to say about her."

"She had a heart of gold," said her cousin, Vinnie Nuccio.

She is survived by her parents, the former Kathryn Kohan and Raffaele; a brother, Francesco, and her grandparents, Francesco DiMitri and Francesca Spata.

The funeral will be tomorrow from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a service at 10 a.m. in the Church at the Gateway. Cremation will follow in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, N.J.
