Carmen McKenna

July 23, 1922 — August 13, 2018

Carmen Mary McKenna ,beloved mother, born July 23, 1922, passed away August 13, surrounded by her family. Terry (as she was known to her friends) was born in Puerto Rico. After the death of her mother, her father along with her two brothers moved to New York City. She was raised in St. Michaels Home in Staten Island.
During WWII she supported the cause by working at S.S. White Factory, building electric motors and constructing dental chairs for the troops. Terry met and married her husband David after he returned from serving in the Navy.  Together they raised their daughter and three sons. Terry and David were one of the original family’s that help start the South Shore Little League. Terry was a very active member soliciting sponsorships, helping with Chinese Auctions, team mother and working the concession stand. She also performed these same duties in the South Shore Babe Ruth League. In addition to her Little League volunteer work she was involved in the PTA at P.S.5, I.S. 7 and Tottenville H.S. After her husband became terminally ill, she worked as a cook for the Nuns and High School students at St. Joseph by the Sea until she was 88 years old. Her greatest joy came from cooking and socializing with her family and good friends.  Terry enjoyed watching baseball especially the Little League World Series and her beloved New York Mets. In the wintertime she was an avid golf enthusiast.
