Caterina Santangelo

July 13, 1944 — February 21, 2026

Caterina Santangelo, beloved wife of Giuseppe Santangelo, passed surrounded by the love of her family. She was 81 years old.

Born on July 13, 1944, in Sicily, Italy, Caterina was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion.

She was a loving and devoted mother to Domenico Santangelo and Piera Santangelo, and a cherished grandmother to Andrew, Dante, and Leandro Bacolo, and Catalina Santangelo. Her grandchildren were her entire universe, and she found her greatest joy in their presence.

Caterina was the daughter of Stephanie and Giovanni Bonanno and one of four children. She shared a special and unbreakable bond with her sister and best friend, Frances Vangeli.

For many years, Caterina worked as a hairdresser, forming lasting friendships and touching the lives of many through her warmth and talent. Above all else, she was a strong and selfless woman who always put her family first. She did whatever it took to ensure her children were cared for and protected, dedicating her life to those she loved.

She expressed her love through her cooking. An incredible chef, her kitchen was the heart of her home, and no one ever left her table without being fed with both food and affection.

Caterina leaves behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love that will live on in her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who were blessed to know her.
