Charles A. Galletta, a retired NYPD Police Officer and resident of Howell, New Jersey, has passed unexpectedly on July 25, 2025, at age of 72 while in Centrastate Hospital in Freehold, New Jersey.
Charles is survived by his wife, Larraine; his two sons Charles and Michael; and his three Grandchildren Gabrielle, Madelyn, and Michael.
Charles was born in Dongan Hills, Staten Island on September 18, 1952, to Charles and Martha Galletta and was the youngest of 5 children. Charles Galletta was a student of New Dorp High School (now Staten Island Technical School) where he subsequently met his soul mate and future wife to be Larraine. In June 1978 and May 1983, they had two sons.
Charles was a retired NYPD officer and absolutely was very proud and honored to wear the shield and help the City of New York. He must have loved the job because both his sons soon followed and they all at one time in their careers were adorned with the same shield number Dad wore.
Charles was a devoted Father and Husband. He enjoyed his family and loved vacationing, fishing, boating, watching boxing, his trips to Atlantic City, and especially the Family Shore House to unwind. Charles was a proud PaPa to his grandchildren and truly loved them to the end of the world. Whether playing with them in the arcade he made for them in their basement or feeding seagulls at Shore House with them you could see and feel the pride and love of a grandfather.
