STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Charles J. Loveridge, 90, a Navy veteran of World War II, died of congestive hear failure yesterday in Ocean Medical Center, Brick, N.J.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Loveridge grew up in Mount Loretto, Pleasant Plains.

After graduating from Curtis High School, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Lindenwald during World War II. For his service, he received the Victory and Pacific medals.

After his discharge in 1945, Mr. Loveridge moved to Mariners Harbor, where he lived for 20 years, before moving to Oakwood.

Mr. Loveridge was president of the former Richmond National Savings Bank on Staten Island and a dispatcher with St. George Trucking Co. In the 1980s, he started his own real estate firm, Bridge Realty in Meiers Corners. He retired in 1993 and three years later settled in Brick.

He enjoyed bowling, boating, golfing and trips to Atlantic City.

"My dad was the most generous person I'd ever known. He spent his entire life helping others," said his son, Joe Licata.

In addition to his son, Joe, surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former JoAnn Odessa; three other sons, Charles Jr., Robert, and Richard; two daughters, Linda Amason and Linda Egan; a brother, Philip; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.


The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with an 11 a.m. mass at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, both Tottenville. Burial will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J.
