Deborah Leaver Kennedy – “THE DUBE”
November 27, 1959 – August 3, 2022
Deborah was born in Brooklyn, New York, one of six children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Patrick and Muriel Kennedy. She is survived by her loving sons, Bryan Patrick Desmond (FDNY) and Robert Donald Desmond (FDNY); her beloved dog, Chester; her siblings, Muriel, Sharon, Patrick, Joanne, and Thomas; and hundreds of cousins.
Debbie lived most of her life on Staten Island, spending her summers on Breezy Point. She was a New York City Police Officer for twenty+ years working in the 1st Precinct and the 13th Precinct, both in New York City. She worked as a Security Officer at St. John’s University and as a Para in the New York Public School System.
Debbie was an avid marathon runner and enjoyed Yoga, and just loved physical challenges. She loved the beach, ocean, and water sports, but especially loved traveling with her sons, often visiting all the National Parks and hiking through them with her boys.
She loved music and went to many concerts including her favorites, Bon Jovi, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd. She also was a big sitcom junkie and loved old movies. She particularly liked Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. When it came to cooking, stuffed mushrooms were her ticket to culinary fame!!
Debbie had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun. She was a life friend to all who knew and loved her. She was a dedicated Mom, friend, and colleague.
Debbie was just a remarkable person.
