Delores Taylor

July 5, 1935 — March 3, 2024

Delores (nee Matula) Taylor , 88, passed away on March 3, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Delores graduated from New Dorp high School, then continued her education at Berkeley College in San Francisco, California.  When she returned home, she worked as a clerk for Richmond County Bank in Port Richmond.  A short time later she began working as a technician at Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Delores married her husband, Matthew Taylor, III in 1958 after a seven year courtship.  They had three daughters together, Elizabeth, Deborah, and Tracey.  Once the girls were born, she became a full time mother and she made all of her girls clothing.  When her girls were a little older, she began volunteering at Eger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  In the 1980's Delores and Matthew were foster parents to three young children.

Delores and Matthew enjoyed traveling together anywhere and just getting lost!  She enjoyed watching football and always rooted for the Chicago Bears.  She was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph's Church as well as Holy Child and St. Joseph/St. Thomas.  She very much enjoyed sewing, painting (self-taught), crossword puzzles, gardening, and playing games with her great grandchildren.  Her granddaughter, Melissa said she loved giving Indian Burns!

Delores' beloved husband, Matthew, passed away on February 16, 2024.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth, Deborah, and Tracey; grandchildren; and great grandchildren
