Dennis Maklari

May 12, 1949 — Aug 17, 2026

Staten Island

Dennis Maklari was born May 12, 1949 in Richmond Memorial Hospital in Prince's Bay. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Addie and Louis Maklari. He grew up in Tottenville and Charleston before moving to Prince's Bay in 1978.

He loved trucks, motorcycles, and most of all heavy construction equipment. He was a skilled operator, one of the best around.

Dennis worked as a tractor operator at the landfill in the early 80's. When it closed he transferred to NYC DOT in lower Manhattan as a motor grader operator. He operated a payloader for 33 years. He loved his job and his machine; he hardly missed a day. Before taking a job with NYC, he drove tractor trailers cross country, which developed into a small trucking company that he and his wife ran for many years.

Dennis always drove a pick up truck and he had a Harley motorcycle that he sometimes rode to his job in Manhattan. He could operate any machine and fix anything. He loved cutting the grass with the rider mower at the ballfields at Page Ave. When it snowed, he was outside for hours cleaning sidewalks for  all the neighbors. Everyone loved him, he was a kind man, who would help anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; his 3 sons, Dennis Jr., Christopher, and Daniel; his daughters in law, Michele and Kathleen; his grandchildren, Daniella, Hunter, Scarlett, Isabella, and Austin. His sisters in law; Margaret (Steve); Theresa, Barbara , and brother in law Joseph. His nieces and nephews; Karissa, Ashley, Nicole, and Joseph; and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Dennis' name to the ASPCA.
