Ellen Cassino

October 24, 1943 — September 16, 2025

Ellen Cassino, beloved mother of Lisa Cassino-Dieken and Nicole Cassino, and cherished grandmother of Daria, Derek, and LeAna Dieken, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Born on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Ellen moved as a young child to the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, to a neighborhood fondly known as Pigtown.

Ellen was a consummate homemaker, hostess, baker, and extraordinary cook—giving Martha Stewart a run for her money. Each night, she delighted her family with a three-course meal and a homemade dessert. She especially loved entertaining on holidays, often welcoming 30 or more guests into her home, always making sure Italian traditions were honored and passed down.

Her home was always immaculately kept and beautifully decorated, reflecting the latest trends and fashions. Ellen also had a true appreciation for the finer things in life, a love she instilled in her daughters and which continues to live on through them.

She shared a lifelong love with her husband, John, whom she tenderly cared for through his illness until his passing.

Ellen adored her two daughters, but it was her three grandchildren who truly captured her heart. They were her pride, her joy, and her world.

She will be deeply missed, but her laughter, warmth, and treasured memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
