STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Native Staten Islander Ferdinand J. Setaro, 78, of Haddonfield, N.J., a retired consultant, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born in New Brighton, Mr. Setaro later moved to Westerleigh and settled in Haddonfield in 1981.
Mr. Setaro worked for 45 years as a consultant, owning his own company for 23 years, TLE Consulting Company, Haddonfield, before retiring in 2000.
Prior to that, he worked for 15 years with the Association of Internal Management Consultants, East Bloomfield, N.Y. He also worked for 12 years at Prudential Insurance, Newark.
Mr. Setaro served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962, where he helped develop a medical records system.
A graduate of Curtis High School, Mr. Setaro received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Columbia University. His sports interests were football and fencing. In his leisure time, he was an avid reader and gun enthusiast who enjoyed Western movies and American history.
Mr. Setaro was a member of Christ the King R.C. Church, Haddonfield.
His wife, the former Irene Pommy, died 2009.
Surviving are one nephew; two nieces; five great nephews, and two great nieces.
The funeral will be tomorrow from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville. Arrangements include cremation.
