Gerard C. Cregin

Gerard “Jerry” Charles Cregin, 85, of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1940 on Staten Island, NY to Charles and Loretta Cregin. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; his children, Patrick (Regina), Brian (Donna), Michael (Melanie), Kevin; his grandchildren, Kara, Sean, Kristen, Dennis, Daniel, Clare, Kelsey and Grace; and his great grandchildren, Owen, Elizabeth and Charles.

Gerard was a graduate of St. Peters High School on Staten Island and served in the United State Navy from 1959 to 1964. After serving in the US Navy, Jerry joined the New York City Police Department rising to the rank of detective before retiring in 1985. After retiring from the NYPD, he owned and operated a vending business and worked within the coffee service industry.

Outside of work, Jerry’s passions included building and designing elaborate model train layouts, working in his vegetable garden, rescuing large dogs, boating and fishing. He loved the sea and shared this with many generations of family at the Jersey Shore each summer. He had a gift for storytelling and the sharing of fish tales. His wit, charm and undeniably dry sense of humor will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 to reminisce, grieve and support each other. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 7396 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY at 11am.
