Bert lived a life dedicated to service. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Following, he worked for the New York Police Department. After retiring from the NYPD, he was employed by the New York Times in their security department; eventually rising to the head of the department.

Bert loved golf, fishing, his dogs (especially a lab!), the New York Yankees & the New York Giants.

Bert is survived by his brother, Dennis Barghaan and wife, Barbara, family members & many friends.

In death, he is finally reunited with his family; his beloved wife Kathleen and his sons, Jeffrey and Brian. Although those he leaves behind will miss him terribly, peace is found at the thought of this reunion.
