Joaquin Ortiaga

Joaquin L. Ortiaga, 78, of Annadale passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 19, 2024, at Brighton Gardens of Edison in New Jersey.

Born in San Jose, Antique in the Philippines, he was the son of the late Juan and Feliciana Ortiaga Sr. Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Miranda Lim Ortiaga; loving father of James Ortiaga, Jessica and John Magalong, and the late Jude Ortiaga. Cherished grandfather of Lathan, Hudson, and James Ortiaga and Cameron and Aiden Magalong. Dear brother of the late Jose Ortiaga and the late Juan Ortiaga Jr. 

Joaquin and Miranda migrated to Jersey City, NJ in 1976 and later moved to Staten Island, NY, where they raised their three children,

Joaquin was working at Commerzbank AG for 35 years before retiring in 2011. He held positions as a Trader, Control Specialist, and Treasurer during his tenure. He truly enjoyed being around his grandchildren, participating in various religious associations, dancing and listening to music, and visiting various casinos trying his luck at slots and poker. Joaquin was a conversationalist, speaking on topics, ranging from politics, business and sports. He will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous person who made sure he always provided for his family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 26,2024 9:30AM at St Thomas the Apostle RC Church. Entombment to  follow at  Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ.
