John Zappala

John Zappala, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

John was a retired Delegate of Local 25 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He proudly dedicated his career to advocating for the rights of his fellow union members, a role he carried out with integrity and commitment. Above all else, John loved his family. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in being surrounded by those he loved.

The wake will be held at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Amboy Road on Wednesday, January 7, from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, at 10:30 AM at St. Christopher’s Church, 130 Midland Avenue.
