Kathleen Cordes

Kathleen Cordes, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 70.

Kathleen was the heart of her family and her home. She was a devoted mom, a loving sister, and the proudest grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly her world – Jack, Hailey, Matthew, Thomas, and CJ – and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with them.

Kathleen worked for many years at New Dorp High School, where she was known for her kindness, dedication, and warm presence. Outside of work, she loved to cook and host, showing her love through food and by gathering the people she cared about around her table. Her home was her happy place, and she welcomed everyone to enjoy it with her, making sure no one ever left hungry or feeling unloved.

She cherished time spent with family and friends, whether it was sharing a meal at home or enjoying a glass of wine and laughter on the boat. She especially treasured time spent boating with her husband, John, who recently predeceased her. Together, they shared a deep love and many happy memories on the water.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Kelly; her stepson, Christopher; her sister, Marybeth; and her cherished grandchildren, Jack, Hailey, Matthew, Thomas, and CJ. She will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart, her love of family, and the way she made everyone feel at home.

Kathleen’s love lives on in the memories she created, the meals she shared, and the family she held so close. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
