KATHLEEN KETTYLE

December 18, 1941 — May 21, 2018

Kathleen M. Kettyle, 76
Kathleen M. Kettyle (nee Wilson) passed away peacefully Monday, May 21, 2018. She had been called home by Our Lord, but also by her loving husband, Richard, who has waited 27 years for her to join him. The Thursday before Richard called her to come, but after telling her one more and we'll go, he forgot to come back till Monday! Must be Irish Time!
She will be dearly missed by her loving family and the hosts on the game show channel. Although Steve Harvey never met Kathy, her viewership will be sorely missed. Perhaps the title "Family Feud" just made her feel at home! She was the proud mother of James, Karen and Greg, Lynn and Eric Burkley, and Mary Kettyle-Mandry and John, and Tony Crowe.
Kathleen liked to cook, which is a good thing because her former home in Tottenville was the site of many backyard barbecues with seating for hundreds. She and her beloved had picnic grounds, mini-golf, horse-shoes, swimming pool and the ever-faithful hot dog cart. Christmas Eve was always filled with food, family, fun and of course Irish coffee!
She always questioned that hot beverage ... what's better than wide awake intoxication? That would be the singing that would take place next ..."I'll take you home again Kathleen ..." Though Dad was tone deaf and Mom was already home, it always made for a fun night!
Kathy was a member of the Hibernians, liked to knit, loved Irish music, cooked a mean corned beef, and her soda bread was pretty good too! Her group of Girl Scouts, Sewing class at OLHC, Triangle Girls, Masons, Tall Cedars, OES, and lifelong friends will all have stories to share of her time with them. She was the founding mother of the IPPCH, which sponsored children here each summer and her impact was felt around the globe.
She cherished her eight grandchildren, Kevin, Richard and Caitlynn Reilly, Sean Burkley, Daniel, Joseph and Thomas Donoro, and her little assistant Johnny Mandry. Kathleen will also be missed by sisters, Mary Jane Wilson and Judith Corrao, and sister-in-law, Fran Milarta.
And so today after having one more before we go, Dad sang "I'll take you home again Kathleen," and then he did.
Funeral is from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Funeral service is at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
