Katie Burkhart

Katie Burkhart passed peacefully on September 11th, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Katie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, nieces and nephews. Katie was highly involved in her children’s schools and was an enthusiastic supporter of all activities her children enjoyed. Katie was her children’s biggest cheerleader, and she was exceptionally proud of their many accomplishments. Her children were her greatest pride and joy.

Katie spent countless hours giving of her time and talents to support others. Katie started a non-profit, Bella’s Believers, to support children with rare diseases. She had an incredibly generous spirit and had a heart for giving back. She continued to give back to others even throughout treatment and leading up to just a couple of weeks ago she was spearheading fundraising efforts for a nonprofit her daughter founded, Magical Moments with Maddie.

Katie had an incredible sense of humor. She was quick-witted and exceptionally funny. Even in the darkest times she would infuse humor and kept her positive outlook. Katie was extremely creative and had a talent for crafting. Katie graduated from the College of Staten Island with a Bachelor's degree. She worked at JP Morgan Chase as an Operations Specialist and previously worked at Capital One and St. John’s University.

Katie is survived by her parents, Maureen and Robert Dishuk, her three children, Madison Burkhart, Mackenzie Burkhart, and Mason Burkhart, her sisters, Peggy-Lynn Kirch and Kerri Mizrahi, her brothers-in-laws Christopher Kirch and Avi Mizrahi, and her nephews and nieces, Preston Kirch, Caleb Kirch, Logan Kirch, Abigail Mizrahi, Jacob Mizrahi, and Ava Mizrahi. She is pre-deceased by her niece Isabella Rose Kirch.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering donating to Katie’s daughter’s nonprofit, Magical Moments with Maddie, which was established in honor of Katie and her niece Isabella and does tremendous work bringing happiness to people fighting serious illnesses.
