Madeline Reed

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Madeline C. Reed, 87, a retired Metropolitan Life Insurance Company clerk, died on Saturday in Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, N.J.

Born Madeline Foley in Manhattan, Mrs. Reed moved to West Brighton in 1950. She moved to Prince's Bay in 1957 and in 2000 she moved to Middletown, N.J. After nine years of working for MetLife in Manhattan, she left her position in order to raise her children.

Mrs. Reed was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family, read, and travel. She lived for her grandchildren and her favorite places to visit were Bar Harbor, Maine, Cape Cod, Mass., and Ocean City, Md.

In her leisure time, she loved to watch her favorite soap opera, "All My Children."

Her husband of 40 years, Joseph, died in 1991. Her son, John, died in 1992, and another son, Joseph, died in 1952.

Surviving are a son, Joe; a daughter, Kathy Reed, and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christian's RC Church, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
