Maria Galindo

Maria Galindo, 83, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., a retired bookkeeper who loved taking cruises with her husband, died Monday in JFK Medical Center, Edison, N.J.

Born Maria Fernandez in Manhattan, she shifted to Brooklyn prior to moving to Pleasant Plains in 1955. She relocated to Little Egg Harbor in 1994.

Mrs. Galindo worked as a bookkeeper for United Cargo in Manhattan for 25 years until retiring in 1992.

In addition to cruises with her husband, Mrs. Galindo liked traveling to Hawaii, boating, and playing cards with her friends.

Her husband of 62 years, Mathew, died in 2008.

Surviving are her son, Matthew; her daughter, Nancy Femenella; her brother, James Anthony; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:15 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown, N.J.
