Marion Van Tine, 95, passed away peacefully on December 1,2025. Born in a tiny house bordering on Bloomingdale and Clay Pit roads on May 9, 1930, she didn’t stray far from her humble beginnings, growing up in Pleasant Plains and later raising her family there with her beloved late husband, Bill.
She graduated from St. Louis Academy in — where else? — Pleasant Plains and always spoke warmly of her childhood with her now-deceased siblings, Tom, Gene and George (Buddy), when the entirety of the then-woodsy Plains was their playground.
Marion is survived by her heartbroken son and daughters, Dennis, Joan and Barbara, her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessie. Marion’s devotion to them all was unequivocal.
In her later years, one of Marion’s favorite pastimes, a quiet joy she regularly shared with Dennis, was feeding peanuts to the growing throngs of neighborhood squirrels and watching their antics — so much so that they would run to her feet every time she opened the side door. They will surely miss her, too.
