MARY McLENDON
“Send Me Your Tired, Your Hungry, Your 2-Legged and 4-Legged Strays Yearning for a Safe Place and a Good Meal”
Mary McLendon passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
She was a longtime resident of Tottenville and is survived by her four children: Deborah Canfield, Edward Canfield, Louis Canfield, and Ronald Connolly; her three grandchildren; and her sister, Francine.
Family meant everything to her, both those she was born to and those she acquired through a life well lived. She was a retired, dedicated Registered Nurse whose compassion for her patients and their families extended to their 4-legged members as well. She was an avid animal lover and a TNR member who supported the NO KILL shelter movement. It would be said of her that any 2-legged or 4-legged stray in need of a safe place, a good meal and kindness were cared for: She made a positive impact on the lives of all those she encountered.
