Mary Troland Sala (nee Meshrow) October 4, 1921-January 11, 2021
Mary was the devoted daughter of the late Harold David Meshrow and Anne Catherine (Dunigan) Meshrow.
She was the loving wife of the late Thomas Hugh Troland and of the late Albert Louis Sala.
She is the beloved mother of Thomas Richard Troland (Mary), the late Anne Troland (Dr. Hady) Oghia and David James Troland (Karen). Beloved grandmother of Christopher John Oghia (Suzi), Brian Troland and John Gabriel Oghia. Devoted great-grandmother of Avery Mae Oghia and Jack Wilde Oghia.
Mary was the dedicated and loving sister and sister-in-law of Joan Anne Naeder and Joan’s late husband, William M. Naeder. She was a devoted and attentive aunt to Joan and Bill’s children Michael Naeder (Janet), William Naeder, Jr. (Kathleen) and Joan Naeder Fetzer (Richard) and their children.
Mary was the loving stepmother to Ellen Sala McDonald (Robert), Albert Sala (Toni) and Edward Sala (Diane) and Eileen McCarthy Carpiniello. Devoted step-grandmother to Mark McDonald (Joyce), Rory McDonald and Patricia Arbeit (Michael) and step-great grandmother to Alexios McDonald, Ronan McDonald and Ryan Arbeit.
Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Mary lived almost all her life in Tottenville. She graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians School and Tottenville High School. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Church where she, her husbands and children were involved in many parish activities and events. Mary served as president of the parish’s Rosary & Altar Society and she helped coordinate many parish events including Church Bazaars and Holiday Dances.
Two great joys in Mary’s later life: Her delight in the almost mother-daughter relationship she found with her devoted housekeeper and friend, Megan Schultz; and the many happy days she spent enjoying being together with her many friends at the Friendship Club at Mount Loretto.
