Maryann Laferrera

Maryann Laferrera, 85, of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on March 3, 2026.

Maryann was born on February 23, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Rocco and Millie (Carmella) Appello. She attended Fontbonne Hall Academy and Staten Island Community College and later worked as a Tumor Registrar at the Nalitt Cancer Institute at SIUH for over 20 years. Maryann continued her career as the Business Office Manager for State of the Art Dentistry, Dr. Salvatore Lanza, DDS.

Known for her strength and independence, driven by her unshakable belief in God, Maryann was a faithful Roman Catholic who attended Mass daily. She found much comfort in praying the Novena to our Blessed Mother.

Maryann enjoyed reading and crafting, was an avid league bowler, and a frequent Atlantic City Slot Enthusiast. She also loved traveling with her family.

She will be remembered for her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and her loving family.

Maryann is survived by her four children, Laura Iliceto (Thomas), Joanne Vostinar (Tom), Susan Laferrera, Joe Laferrera (Carla), her five grandchildren, Brianna LaPiedra (John), Daniella Vostinar, Matthew Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Christiana Laferrera. Raised together as one family, she is also survived by her siblings, Frank Appello, Robert Appello, and her cousins, Rev. Fr. Victor Ulto, Camille Saville (Robert), Salvatore Ulto (Barbara), Frank Ulto (Anita).

Maryann was preceded in death by her Parents, Rocco and Millie Appello; her brother, Joseph Appello; her cousins, Elaine Tringali, Virginia (Jeanne) Roziak (Tom), Michael Ulto.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 3:00PM-7:00PM at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Rd. Staten Island NY 10307. The funeral service will follow on March 9, 2026 at 10:00AM at Our Lady Help of Christians RC Church, 7396 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave., Staten Island, NY.
