Maryann Murray

Maryann Patricia Murray, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, VA surrounded by her family.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 27th, 1944 to Stellario and Catherine (Tomasello) Messina. She is a graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn, NY. She spent her early years in Brooklyn and then moved to Staten Island to raise her family. She relocated to Mechanicsville, VA to be closer to her children and grandchildren, whom she considered her greatest gift. She was an amazing cook and had such a wonderful smile. Her pizza was better than yours.

Maryann was a loving wife to her husband of 55 years, James P. Murray.  She is preceded in death by her parents Stellario and Catherine Messina, sister Patricia Cassese and brother Frances Messina. She will be forever loved and missed by her children, Christine Houlihan and husband Torrance Houlihan, Danielle Morgan and husband Christopher Morgan, and James Murray and wife Melyssa Murray; by her 6 grandchildren Connor, Ryan, Jack, Alyssa, Kaylee and Cailin, by her sister Vicky Sklar and husband Irwin Sklar, by her best friend Lillian Turrigiano and husband Anthony Turrigiano, by her niece Francis Hine and husband Kevin Hine, as well as by all her family and friends.

Visiting hours are at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY, 10307 on Friday, August 26th, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 27th at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 6097 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10309. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10306.
