It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael D. Trifaro, Jr. on October 8, 2025, at the age of 55. Michael grew up in Staten Island, NY. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jennifer (nee Betro), and two children Michael D. Trifaro, III and Katrina R. Trifaro. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Frances Trifaro and his sister Natalie Trifaro Mazzarisi. He is survived by his brother Christopher Trifaro and sister-in-law Debra Trifaro, brother-in-law Michael Mazzarisi, six nieces and nephews: Elaina Mazzarisi, Tina Mazzarisi, Michael Mazzarisi, Christopher Trifaro, Jr, Lisa Trifaro and Christina Trifaro. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Katherine Betro and brother-in-law John Betro. Michael also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.
Born on October, 16, 1969, Michael grew up in a loving home in Westerleigh with his parents and sister Natalie and brother Christopher. He attended PS 30, IS 51 and Port Richmond High School. Michael continued his studies and attended Wagner College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1991 and a Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the College of Staten Island in 1995. He began his career providing physical therapy at Bayley Seton Hospital, Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Doctor’s Hospital where he became Director of Physical Therapy. During this time he also established his own successful private outpatient practice, Trifaro Physical Therapy, P.C. in New Dorp. He provided care to an abundance of patients for nearly 27 years having to close earlier in the year due to being unwell. Michael was a dedicated caregiver who was always passionate about his patient care and was well respected in his field. He valued the trust and confidence people put in his care and he loved doing what he did. Being the entrepreneur he was, Michael, along with his brother Christopher, developed and patented the Nuvotrike, an adult-sized tricycle geared toward those who wanted to ride a bicycle but couldn’t balance. The special needs and senior communities took a particular liking to it.
Above all, Michael was a dedicated family man. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jennifer, of over 26 years. Michael and Jennifer shared a beautiful marriage of love and mutual respect and continued admiration for each other. They made their home in Tottenville where they raised two beautiful children together that he could not be more proud of. During their childhood years he was always there to enjoy the little league games, dance recitals, graduations and special milestones. These were the moments that made him most proud. Michael was a natural mentor and enjoyed teaching his children valuable skills throughout the years. He enjoyed family and friend get-togethers for a special occasion or just a cup of coffee. Michael was always there to help anyone in any way and will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion. Michael left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered and his passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and all whose lives were touched by him.
