Pauline Carstensen

October 28, 1928 — April 21, 2020

Pauline Dorothy Carstensen, 91, of Tottenville, flew high today to be with her Artie!

Born in 1928 to Abel and Karen Larsen in Perth Amboy, Pauline met the love of her life at The Point, where young ones gathered at the beach in Tottenville.  She graduated from Perth Amboy High School. Married for 63 years, Pauline lost her best friend, and loving husband, Artie on 11/7/11, leaving a gaping hole in her heart.  She was also pre-deceased by her parents and her sister, Gloria Lobban and many dear friends and relatives.

Pauline and Artie were blessed with three remarkable children who instilled great pride and brought much joy to them: Caryl Comeforo and her husband Keith, John Carstensen and his wife Maryann, Joan Chapman and her husband Jack.

Pauline cherished, and treasured time with her seven grandchildren:  Keith Comeforo and his wife Julie, Kara Brower and her husband Dave, Kristofer Carstensen Comeforo, John Carstensen and his fianceé Victoria Giordano, Amy Carstensen and her fiancé Adam Dewey, Julie Chapman and Angelo Stallone, Jack Chapman and his fianceé Emily Smookler.  Pauline’s priceless gems were her great-grandchilden, Mackenzie Comeforo, Jacob Brower and Gavin Dewey.  Forever close to her heart were her dear cousin Arline Rask, nieces Lynn Lobban, Karen Lobban and nephew Robbie Lobban.  And let’s not forget Midget, her loving and loyal puppy companion.

And…. many thanks to Elma and Lynn, incredible caregivers.

As a founding and forever member of the infamous Tuesday Night Girls’ Club, Pauline and her friends loved and took care of each other and their families.  Also a founding member of the South Shore Swim Club, Pauline enjoyed playing tennis and socializing with the crew.  Pauline was also a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 21, and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Hats off to Pauline who now shines brightly with Artie as bright stars in our universe!!!!!!!!!!! We know she is smiling!

A celebration of life will happen at later date.

Pauline’s heartfelt wishes were for contributions to be made to the:
