Peter Ievolo

Jan 28, 1958 — Jun 13, 2026

Peter "Pete" Ievolo, 68, passed away on June 13, 2026, after a life full of happiness, dedication, and love for his family and friends.

Pete was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 28, 1958, and raised in Staten Island on Scranton Avenue. As a youth, he played sports, fished, and built a log cabin in the woods before, as he would put it, "Staten Island changed."

He attended Tottenville High School, where he became friends with Dominick Zarrella. Through Dominick, Peter met Dominick's sister MarySue, who eventually became his wife. Pete and MarySue had two sons, Michael and Andrew.

He proudly served as a New York City Police Officer for 40 years and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Pete's police career spanned multiple generations of policing. He served at Ground Zero following the September 11, 2001 attacks and was at one point the most senior Sergeant in the NYPD. Pete was beloved by rookies, subordinates, ranking officers, and peers alike, all of whom had a unique story about his legendary personality.

In addition to policing, Pete was well known for his work as a window treatment specialist. Respected for his great service, prompt communication, and gregarious demeanor, his success in this field was a testament to his skill and work ethic.

After retiring from the NYPD in 2021, Pete continued to install window treatments and took on hobbies including bowling and fishing. His greatest enjoyment was buying ice cream for his granddaughter, Olivia. Pete will always be remembered for his outgoing nature, his love of having fun, and the energy he brought to family events — especially when he was dancing.

Pete leaves behind a storied NYPD career, a lifetime of hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Ermino and Clara. He is survived by his wife, MarySue; his children, Michael and Andrew; his daughter-in-law, Brittany; and his grandchildren, Olivia and Andrew Peter; and his siblings John, Victoria, and Janice.
