Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

—————————————————————————-

Susan M. Six (née Browne), 75, a proud native of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at Staten Island University Hospital – Ocean Breeze, with her beloved children at her side.

Born on January 11, 1950, at Richmond Memorial Hospital, Susan was a lifelong Staten Islander whose roots and heart were deeply tied to her community. She graduated from Tottenville High School in 1968, where she was a spirited school booster and a beloved classmate. That same warmth and enthusiasm carried through every chapter of her life.

Susan was a proud patriot and devoted lover of America — a value deeply instilled in her by her parents, both of whom honorably served in the United States Navy. She carried their legacy of service with immense pride.

Professionally, Susan dedicated many years of her life as a Clerical Associate and Unit Clerk at Staten Island University Hospital – South Campus. She retired in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, professionalism, and cherished friendships.

Affectionately known as “Susie,” she was admired for her beautiful singing voice, her deep love of music, and her unmistakable, loud, joyful laugh — a laugh that could light up a room and make even strangers feel like family. She loved spontaneous road trips and shopping excursions across New Jersey, and above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her older brother, George A. Browne, and sister-in-law, Linda Mae Browne; her daughter Laurie Anne Six; her son, Thomas John Six, Jr. and his wife Lisa Marie Six, and and her adored grandchildren, Thomas John III and Leah Grace Six. She was predeceased by her parents, George R. Browne and Audra I. Browne, her sister, Linda L. Browne, and her companion, Edward McGovern.

A woman of steadfast Christian faith, Susan was at one time a member of The Huguenot Reformed Church, where she sang in the choir and found deep joy and connection in her spiritual community.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at **Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home** on **Wednesday, May 7, 2025**, from **2:00–4:00 PM** and **7:00–9:00 PM**.
