Tara Lynn Gittins

May 23, 1981 — July 11, 2023

Tara Lynn Gittins, a lifelong Tottenville resident, passed away on July 11, 2023. She is survived by her father Wayne Gittins, her son Jacob Jeffrey Eagle, whom she adored, and her fiance, Jeffrey Eagle.

Tara graduated from Tottenville High School and Drake Business School. She worked as a Paralegal for many firms on Staten Island and in Brooklyn.

Throughout her life, Tara always stole the show. When she was a child, family and friends enjoyed watching her shine on stage at her dance recitals. As an adult, Tara still loved to dance and could always be found on the dance floor at parties.

She enjoyed vacationing every summer in Wildwood Crest with her family and friends, and she especially loved when the family played cards.

Tara enjoyed spending time at the Conference House. She loved nature, camping, all things water, and was just a free spirit and the most apologetic person. She had no hatred in her heart. She wholeheartedly loved everyone that came into her life.

Tara was an animal lover who often brought home stray cats. If she could, she would have taken home all of the stray animals in the world. She and Jeffrey rescued their beloved Jonesy Bear and they also adored their dog Scrappy.

Tara was famous for always saying "Give me a hug" and “I love you,” which her son has now adopted. We will still love her through his hugs. Tara could always be counted on to make her friends and family smile and laugh. There’s a quote that says, “Smile to the world and smile to the people you love, as a sunflower smiles at the sun.” This was Tara in a nutshell, and so fitting that sunflowers were her favorite flower.

Tara leaves behind many aunts, uncles. cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was also blessed to have many friends, both new and lifelong. She will remain in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Gittins. She is also predeceased by her grandparents, Lillian and Vincent Gittins, and Henry and Dorothy Murray, as well as her future mother and father in law, Carol and Walter Eagle.

Till we meet again. May you rest in peace Tara
