Thomas J. Greifenstein

September 3, 1979 — August 24, 2025

Thomas Joseph Greifenstein, aged 45, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.

Thomas was born on September 3, 1979, on Staten Island. He lived in Huguenot and was an active member of the Huguenot Reform Church, attending Sunday School, Youth Group, Junior Choir and Bell Choir. He graduated from Tottenville High School and went on to study at Borough of Manhattan College and the Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon. He loved baseball and played in the South Shore Little League and went on to play in the Babe Ruth league until he was 17.

Thomas served in the Army National Guard for two years. Shortly following discharge, he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he worked for several social services organizations including Wolfe Street Foundation and Our House.

Thomas resided in North Little Rock, Arkansas for 24 years. He loved the community he lived in, and he loved the community he served. He was passionate about social justice and believed deeply in advocating for those less fortunate than he was. He helped countless individuals through his work and compassion. He was particularly committed to working with the recovery community in Central Arkansas and was proud of his own recovery.

Thomas was also a strong advocate for animals of all kinds. He adopted 3 rescue dogs – Olivia and Louie, and Ebby. He truly believed that his doges were his best companions, and he treated them that way.

But he also had many friends of the two-legged variety no matter where he was living – likely because of his spirit, his sense of humor and his creativity. He was a skilled photographer, creative writer and avid reader; he loved music and attended as many concerts as he could.

But the things we love most about Thomas were his compassion, his willingness and his ability to help others. He had a generous heart and will always be remembered for his kindness and his eagerness to help the least amongst us.

Thomas is survived by his mother, Ellen; his two uncles, Donald and Eric; and his aunt, Donna; and his faithful companion and best friend, Kate Brown DiPaolo.
