It is with profound heartbreak that we announce the passing of Vincent “Vinny” Bruno, age 56, who left this world after a courageous 16-month battle with esophageal cancer. Surrounded by the love of his family, Vinny passed peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and unforgettable memories.
Vinny was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved with his family to Summit, NY at just two years old. At 18, he made Staten Island his home—building a beautiful life filled with love, friendship, and purpose. He dedicated more than 28 years to UPS as a proud Teamsters driver, earning the respect of coworkers and forming bonds that lasted decades.
Vinny is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Melissa and together they created a lifetime of memories—from their early years traveling to countless Grateful Dead shows, a band they both adored, to building a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition. Their story is one of deep connection and enduring devotion. Vinny’s greatest joy in life was his son, Jason, 16. The bond they shared was extraordinary and unbreakable. Vinny treasured their traditions—especially attending Yankees Opening Day together each year—and he loved nothing more than talking sports, cheering on the Miami Dolphins, and spending time with Jason in any way he could. Being a father was his greatest blessing, and his love will forever surround his son.
He is also survived by his father Vincent Bruno and wife Olga, who reside in Florida; his brother Michael Bruno and wife Nicole of upstate New York; his sister Susanne and husband Adam, who also live in Florida; his loving mother-in-law Lynn Heiser and father-in-law John Heiser, who lived just four houses away and cherished Vinny dearly; and his brother-in-law Tommy, who was always an important part of his life. Vinny also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who became family. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Rose Giordano.
He had a remarkable eye for landscaping transforming the front of his home with a vision and skill that made everything look perfect. creativity came effortlessly to him, and he had a natural gift for bringing beauty and order to everything he touched. Vinny was known for his big heart, his quick wit, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Everyone who knew him loved him. He loved snowmobiling upstate and found a later-in-life passion for bocce, gaining a new circle of friends who became like family and added so much joy to his days. Vinny will forever be remembered for his laughter, his creativity, his kindness, and the immeasurable love he gave so generously. Though his passing leaves a profound emptiness, his spirit will live on in every life he touched, every tradition he created, and every beautiful memory he leaves behind. May his memory be a blessing and a comfort to all who loved him.
